Syria's borders with LebanonSyrian security forces have attacked a group of armed terrorists who were trying to infiltrate into Syria through the border with Lebanon.

The Syrian troops have many times blocked such attempts by the foreign-sponsored insurgents over the past months.

The army has also inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists in several towns and cities.

On Saturday, the security forces killed a number of insurgents in the town of Rityan, about 20 kilometers (12 miles) north of the city of Aleppo.

In the northwestern port city of Latakia, the forces arrested a group of the insurgents attempting to block main roads on the same day.

The anti-Syria Western regimes have been calling for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down, but Russia and China remain opposed to the Western drive to oust Assad.

Russia has also rejected the idea of imposing no-fly zones over Syria, which the United States says it is ready to consider.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said in a recent interview with Sky News Arabia that creating “no-fly zones and safety zones for military purposes by citing an international crisis… is unacceptable.”
