Iran’s Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei said on Thursday that “economy of resistance” is the only way left to proceed in the path to progress.
Addressing a meeting during a meeting with cabinet members which was attended by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Ayatollah Khamenei said: The arrogant powers are pulling their weight to force Iran to back down (on its stances) and the government should invalidate these illusions by using the nation's full potentials.
His eminence called for an "economy of resistance" to confront a slew of Western oil and financial sanctions, saying this "is the only way to pursue progress in the country." "In this kind of economy the nation's progress is preserved and vulnerability of the economy against the enemies plots is decreased."
Describing the “Government Week” as an opportunity for appreciating services rendered by the executive power and the officials, the Supreme Leader added that it also provides a chance for evaluating inward and study weak and strong points of the power.
The Ayatollah called on the president and his colleagues to make optimal use of the remaining time till the end of the tenth government tenure.
"Keep always in mind that the powers will never quit enmity and will seek new measure once the earlier ones are doomed," His eminence warned. Therefore, the officials should seek new approaches for countering the threats.
The Ayatollah also enumerated huge developmental works, remarkable progress in the field of science and technology promoting Iran’s status in the field of foreign policy and avoiding luxurious lives and leading simple lives as among the strong points of the government, IRNA reported. Ayatollah Khamenei also called on the government to draw up programs for removing the livelihood problems facing the public.
Rendering a definition of resistance economy, Ayatollah Khamenei said that adhering to this economy will not only keep the country on its track to progress but also will lower the vulnerability of the economic system.
The Supreme Leader also called on the three branches of government to keep interaction and coordination in their activities.
