Syrian Vice President Farouq al-Sharaa says his country welcomes the regional initiative over Syria which will be presented at the Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran.
Talking to al-Manar channel, al-Sharaa said that excluding the Islamic Republic from the efforts exerted in a bid to find a solution to the ongoing crisis in Syria, “is a clear political fault.”
Al-Sharaa also considered the suggestion presented by Iran over the participation of Iraq and Algeria in the meetings of the Quartet committee, as important and “makes the committee more balanced.”
"HALT OF VIOLENCE"
Meanwhile, al-Sharaa said that the main step in order to secure a settlemnt in Syria is to halt violence by all sides.
In remarks published by the Syrian Daily al-Watan, al-Sharaa said that the solution in Syria should be based on the former UN envoy Kofi Annan's six-point plan and the statement declared by international powers following Geneva meeting.
"Tis could help all the Syrians, I mean the government and the opposition, to go into national dialogue and to accept it's results if the political will was existed."
