Lebanese Parliament Speaker and Amal Movement Chief Nabih Berri announced that new information on Imam Moussa Sadr’s case will come out on Saturday or Sunday, reassuring that all that had been published lately about the kidnapped Imam and his two companions’ fate was not true.

Speaking on the 34th anniversary of the disappearance of Imam Sadr and his two friends Sheikh Hassan Yacoub and Abbas Badreddine, Berri thanked the Libyan authorities for their help in the investigations and tackled various topics including the Syrian crisis and the sectarian developments in Lebanon.

The Goal Is to Destroy Syria’s Role and Preserve Israel’s Security

Berri NabatiehOn the Syrian file, Speaker Berri stressed that the goal out of the attack on Syria was to destroy Syria’s regional role and implement a new Sykes-Picot agreement, and called on the Arabs and Syrians to stop shedding blood and begin with dialogue.

He further considered that one of the goals of what is currently happening in the region is preserving Israel’s security and transforming the Arab-Israeli conflict to an Arab-Persian and an Islamic-Islamic conflict.

As he pointed out that he did not see an Arab role that is capable of drawing a happy ending for what is taking place in Syria, Berri said the Non-Aligned Movement Summit must support a solution there or else bloodshed and fire will continue.

Moreover, the Lebanese parliament speaker asserted that stability in the Middle East depended on achieving the hopes of the Palestinian people, and that one of the Israeli escalation strategies is the settlement construction.

A Stance against Sectarianism

Berri stressed the importance of rejecting violence and Takfirists, and called upon Muslims to be aware of the enemies of Islam who are trying to “drag us toward sedition”, warning that sedition would then enter every house.

As he indicated that Lebanon was a field of deprivation, monopolization and suppression, as well as an area for the enemy’s maneuvers, he stressed: “If you meet the enemy, fight it with your weapons and nails.”
