Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi is set to depart Tehran for the Afghan capital to attend the fourth meeting of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Economic Commission.
Salehi will leave Tehran on Tuesday afternoon, heading a delegation which comprises consultants and experts in Afghanistan affairs. The meeting is due to be held in Kabul on September 4-5.
Iran and Afghanistan are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the trade, banking and tourism sectors on Wednesday.
On Monday, a separate 30-member Iranian delegation travelled to Afghanistan to participate in the meeting.
Iran has played an active role in the reconstruction of Afghanistan since the US-led invasion of the country in 2001.
In addition to massive reconstruction contributions, the Islamic Republic has cooperated with the Afghan government in building roads and railways to expand cross-border transportation.
