World Islamic Awakening Assembly Condemns Defamatory Film

World Islamic Awakening Assembly condemned the defamatory film about Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in a statement issued Saturday.

“Great progress in the Islamic Awakening and growing awareness of the world Muslims in confrontation with the hegemonic powers, especially international Zionism has made them frustrated and angry, so they are taking futile steps which are far from human rights norms,” the statement read.

“World hegemonic powers wanted to take revenge of this divine religion which has given anti-racism teachings to humanity,” it added.

The statement continued that Salman Rushdie, the Danish caricaturist, that scurrilous preacher and this anti-human movie are all scenes of this anti-human scenario.

Secretary general of the assembly Ali Akbar Velayati said that insulting prophets and characters of the religions is not acceptable in any ideology, so those who insult the Holy Prophet of Islam are not followers of any religion, but are followers of the Devil.

The statement stressed that many of human rights conventions, including the UN Human Rights Deceleration approved in 1948, Article 19 of International Convention on Civil and Political Rights, Human Rights Convention approved in 1969, the UN Human Rights Deceleration in 1996, the communiqué of the UN summit in December 12, 2003 and the approved communiqué of Durban meeting in 2003 include articles which condemn insulting prophets and spiritual leaders.
