UN envoy to Syria is to meet UN Security Council in a bid to discuss his recent talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
Peter Wittig, Germany's UN ambassador and Security Council president for September said that Ibrahimi was expected in New York this weekend.
He also said that the peace envoy would meet council ambassadors for informal consultations on Monday.
A UN spokesman noted that Ibrahimi spoke with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on Tuesday about his talks in Damascus and with Arab League ministers in Cairo.
Ibrahimi, a veteran Algerian diplomat, succeeded the forme UN envoy to Syria, Kofi Annan, who resigned in August after he said his six-point peace plan lacked international support.
