The Lebanese pilgrim who was kidnapped by militants in Syria last May was freed on Tuesday, but his arrival from Turkey to Lebanon was delayed to Wednesday.
Awad Ibrahim arrived in the Turkish territories following his release on Tuesday, a month after another abducted Lebanese pilgrim, Hussein Omar, was freed.
Ibrahim is scheduled to arrive at Rafiq Hariri international airport at 8:30 pm aboard a normal flight.
Interior Minister Marwan Charbel delegated two General Security and Internal Security Forces officers in order to accompany Ibrahim from Turkey to Lebanon.
Ibrahim’s brother, Hussein told al-Manar correspondent that the General Security had asked his family for a passport photo in order to prepare the document that would allow him to return home.
Charbel told an-Nahar Lebanese daily that Lebanese authorities haven't stopped their negotiations with Turkish officials to secure the release of the remaining pilgrims.
Ibrahim and Omar were among 11 Lebanese pilgrims who were kidnapped by militants in Syria’s Aleppo on May 22 on their home from Iran. The head of these militants identified himself as Abu Ibrahim.
