Four rockets were fired from Gaza into Southern Israel in response to an Israeli air strike.
Four rockets were fired from Gaza into Southern occupied Palestine Sunday in response to the Israeli air strike that killed one Palestinian hours earlier.
AFP quoted Police Spokesman Micky Rosenfeld as saying that "two rockets fell in open areas whithin Eshkol district while another two landed in and around Beersheva, without causing injuries."
In Gaza, the Popular Resistance Committee claimed responsibility for the two rockets fired at Beersheva, prompting its mayor to cancel school classes until further notice.
"Many of the houses in our town are not protected and we cannot play with the lives of our children," he told Israeli public radio.
Hours earlier, an Israeli air strike killed a Hamas resistance fighter and wounded another after "they fired mortar shells at Israeli tanks entering the southern city of Khan Yunis," AFP quoted Palestinian medics and witnesses as saying.
The Israeli military confirmed the strike, refusing to give any comment on the Israeli armour entering the Palestinian territories.
"Over night Israeli Air Force targeted a rocket launching site and squad in the Central Gaza Strip," it said, pointing out that 150 rockets had been fired at the occupied territories since the beginning of this month.
