Ahmadinejad to Sleiman: Terrorist Acts Aim at Disrupting Unity in Lebanon

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told the Lebanese President Michel Sleiman that the main aim of terrorist acts and recent explosion in Beirut is to disrupt security and unity in Lebanon.

Ahmadinejad remarks was during telephone call he made with the Lebanese counterpart on Tuesday.

Condemning the terrorist acts and expressing sympathy with Lebanese government and families of victims, Ahmadinejad said that enemies of Lebanon have targeted security and unity of the country, where as the Iranian nation condemns such approaches and inhuman acts and express solidarity with Lebanese state.

According to a statement of Iranian Presidential Office, Ahmadinejad underlined that, undoubtedly, wise management of the government and Lebanese political groups’ leaders will prevent materialization of enemies' goals and they won't take advantage of such moves.

President Sleiman appreciated Ahmadinejad's sympathy and said “the blast has caused problems in Lebanon and we are trying to contain its consequences and establish full tranquility in the country with cooperation of all Lebanese groups.”

He expressed hope that peace and tranquility can be established all over the region.

In another context, Iran’s first Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi sent a message of felicitation on Eid al-Adha to the Lebanese Premier Najib Mikati.

According to a statement of Iran embassy in Lebanon on Tuesday, Rahimi expressed hope that the two nations witness stronger brotherly and friendly ties.
