March 14 announced war on the government after its leadership meeting Tuesday in Saad Hariri’s downtown residence.
In a statement the bloc issued after its meeting, it considered that the situation is “no longer bearable”, especially as they are “being killed” and the government holds a big responsibility in that considering that it is “covering the killers”.
Conclusively, March 14 demanded a new “neutral” government that supervises the coming parliamentary elections.
The opposition further said it will “confront the conspiracy, its tools, and the imposing forces, to reveal the truth and protect Lebanon in a peaceful and civilized way, with all possible means that are used in a democratic system and under the law.”
“In order to achieve this goal in the fastest way, avoid the aggravation of dangers, and reject the logic of clashing,” March 14 has “decided to completely boycott this government, and to use all the possible democratic means and peaceful civil movements to achieve its goals.”
In its statement, the bloc also mentioned “four dangers” it said are surrounding the nation, and these are: “going back to assassinations, the Syrian regime’s insistence that it uses Lebanon as its battlefield and mailbox in its war against it people, the danger of drawing an Israeli war on Lebanon, in addition to the danger of changing the state’s nature and identity.”
From here, the forces concluded that “the battle today is not only to oust the government, and it is not to swap Hezbollah’s government with a March 14 one, it rather to confront the dangers Lebanon is exposed to.”
