The commander of Lebanese Armed Forces said the military will not allow strife to shake the country.
“The army is fulfilling its role and duties in order to [maintain a calm situation], not only in Sidon but in all Lebanese areas, [since] security is a red line,” Jean Qahwaji told As-Safir newspaper in an interview published Tuesday two days after alarming clashes rocked the southern city of Sidon.
“Therefore, we will not allow strife [to erupt], and the army will prevent it no matter how much sacrifice this [mission requires].”
