The Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades commander, Ahmad al-Ja’abari, was martyred in an Israeli raid on the besieged strip.

"During a joint operation of the General Security Service (Shin Bet) and the IDF today (referring to Israeli occupation forces), Ahmed al-Jabari, the senior commander of the military wing of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, was targeted," a statement from the Zionist entity’s Shin Bet domestic intelligence service said.

He is the most senior Hamas official to be assassinated since an Israeli offensive in Gaza four years ago.

At least eight other Palestinians have been martyred and up to 70 were injured in the Israeli operation "Pillar of Cloud".

Following the attack, an Israeli official said that Jabari's assassination in the Gaza Strip was not the end of the assault on the coastal Palestinian territory and more strikes would follow.

The Zionist entity said that over 20 sites in Gaza have been targeted.

Meanwhile, Izzeddin al-Qassam Brigades announced that the Zionist entity opened gates of hell to itself by killing Jabari.

For its part, Islamic Jihad has also said that by killing Ja’abari, Tel Aviv has declared war on Gaza.

Al-Manar TV reported that up till now 90 missiles have hit Beersheba, DImona, Negev, Sderot and Ashkelon.
