The result of first round of voting for the referendum on Egyptian President Mohammad Mursi’s proposed constitution was 57 percent in favor, state media reported Monday.
The second round is due to be held in the weekend, while the “opposition National Salvation Front urged the organizers of the referendum to investigate what it said were widespread voting violations and ensure that the second round of balloting was properly supervised,” Reuters said.
The opposition also called for nationwide protests across Egypt on Tuesday "to stop forgery and bring down the invalid draft constitution," and urged organizers “to consider re-running the first round of voting.”
In this context, Reuters reported that opposition politician Mohammad Al-Baradei called on his Twitter account for "cancelling the notorious referendum and entering dialogue to mend the rift.”
