Syrian authorities returned on Saturday the bodies of three more Lebanese militants who were recently killed in Syria’s Tal Kalakh ambush last month.
The bodies of Malek Hajj Deeb, Abdul Karim Ibrahim, and Hussein Srour were transferred from Syria through the Arida border crossing in northern Lebanon.
In a statement, General Security said it finalized the third phase of the repatriation process, adding that it would maintain contacts with Syrian authorities to ensure there are “no gaps” in the case.
Ambulances provided by Dar al-Fatwa were involved in the repatriation process and returned the bodies to Lebanese authorities.
The corpses were delivered to their families for funeral prayers at al-Taqwa mosque in the northern city of Tripoli after noon prayers.
In late November, a group of militants from north Lebanon, who went to Syria to fight against the regime, were killed in a Syrian army ambush in Tal Kalakh.
After arriving at the north Lebanon Arida border crossing, the spokesman of the families of the fighters, Sheikh Mohammed Ibrahim, told media that several of the militants haven't returned to Lebanon, including Hassan Srour, who was held captive by regime troops, while another identified as Mohammed al-Rifai is missing.
