Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah declared Thursday that steps made by the Lebanese government regarding the religious visitors kidnapped in Syria are dissatisfying, expressing regret towards the negative exploitation of this file by some people in order to make a rift within the Lebanese society.
During a speech his eminence delivered on the Arbaeen of Imam Hussein (as) – the fortieth day after his Holy Martyrdom – in the Lebanese northern city of Baalbek, Sayyed Nasrallah called for direct negotiations with the kidnappers just like other states might do, stressing that there should be no futile political considerations, and warning that “we will not reach a point through the way we are adopting now.”
Sayyed Nasrallah also called for a move against the states which affect the kidnappers via funds, influence and opening frontiers, naming Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia for being countries of influence in this regard as they finance and arm the militant groups while offering facilities for them.
“If the state finds itself unable to solve the matter, then it should be referred to the kins (of the kidnapped visitors) and to the political forces,” his eminence said calling for betting on the state.
Moreover, Sayyed Nasrallah tackled the issue of Syrian immigrants in Lebanon as one of the repercussions emerged from the developments in the Arab country, calling upon dealing with it in a pure humanitarian way, stressing the need to depoliticize it and asking officials to pay attention to the immigrant families regardless of their political situation.
Hezbollah Secretary General refused the closure of borders with Syria for any reason “despite the political, security and economic risks of the massive immigration,” stressing the need to limit the consequences of this humanitarian crisis.
“Containing this file requires a clear official position alongside a popular cooperation,” he said, adding that the Lebanese should embrace those immigrant families in their homes and public places despite the difficult economic conditions they suffer.
Sayyed Nasrallah believed, however, that the real solution of the immigrants problem lies in solving the root causes, calling for a political compromise that will end the war, the fighting and the bloodshed in Syria, so that the families can return to their homes and lands.
His eminence noted that “whom who is responsible for the people’s displacement, holds the responsibility of the bloodshed and political impasse – whether local, regional or international parties,” emphasizing that the criminal who bears the responsibility of bloodshed in Syria and the humanitarian tragedy of the Syrian immigrants is the same who blocks the political dialogue in the country.
As for the Syrian crisis, Sayyed Nasrallah pointed out that all givens reassure that the battle is bloody and will drag on in case the military givens remain the same, stressing the presence of prospect for a political solution in Syria.
He also called the Lebanese state to “develop” its political position towards the Syrian crisis, stating that “the Lebanese state is entitled to tell the Americans, the Europeans and the Arab League that Lebanon cannot bear the burdens of this case.”
“Lebanon should develop its position by exerting pressure, and not only by self-distancing,” he added.
Lebanon
While calling upon the Lebanese to maintain the unity of their state and its institutions, Sayyed Nasrallah acknowledged that Lebanon is the more affected country by what is going on around it, especially in Syria, due to its political and sectarian variety.
His eminence also said that two approaches emerged in Lebanon since the beginning of the Syrian crisis. “The first was committed to dialogue and called for distancing Lebanon from the fight, while the second wants to transfer the fight to the Lebanese arena.”
“If the other party was in power, it wouldn't only drag Lebanon into a civil war, but also into a war against Syria,” he stated.
Hezbollah Secretary General also tackled the oil wealth raised recently in Lebanon, where he called for a national strategy to protect those resources, expressing hopes that they will be a blessing for the country and not a curse against it.
"There are documents revealing that what is happening in the region is due to the oil and gas wealth, and if Lebanon could take advantage of this wealth, it can fulfill its debt."
Praising the Lebanese state for the oil excavation law, his eminence expressed regret for the fact that the Zionist entity was quick to deal with the subject “so that it will work and export within three months,” stressing the need to deal with the matter as a national case, especially for it offers an opportunity to get Lebanon out of its current situation.
While stressing the Resistance readiness in this regard, Sayyed Nasrallah noted that this wealth will provoke Zionist threats against us, in particular regarding the wells common with the so-called ‘Israel’, “where companies could be threatened by Israel and its masters,” his eminence said, adding that the Zionist entity started to develop its naval forces and missiles since it discovered its oil resources, “but we - who have two guns and two rockets - have no other logic to speak about than the call for disarming the Resistance,” he said.
“We, as a Resistance, are ready for what is required of us. We are ready to bear this responsibility anew. We do not ask for any share or share finger, because this wealth is beneficial to everyone,” his eminence reassured.
Sayyed Nasrallah also talked on Zionist and American efforts to impose siege on the Resistance around the world, mentioning the efforts exerted in Europe to put Resistance on the terrorist black list and prevent it from moving in Latin America, alongside the Arab efforts to demonize it (the Resistance) because it embarrassed the Arab rulers when it defeated Israel.”
However, his eminence stressed that “all those conspiracies will doom to failure,” elaborating that “our might is not in weapons, but lies in our will and faith.”
“To all those anxious, friends and foes: don't be afraid about the Resistance because we derive our strength from Karbala',” Sayyed Nasrallah firmly stated.
In another context, Sayyed Nasrallah announced Hezbollah refusal of any form of division or partition in any Arab or Muslim state, stressing the need to maintain unity in any country whatever the demands are righteous.
Noting that the partition reality threatens more than one country in the region, starting from Iraq, Egypt, Libya, Syria and even the Saudi Arabia, Sayyed Nasrallah explained that “Lebanon is too small to be divided,” stressing the need to hold on to the unity of Lebanon and calling upon the Lebanese to reject any semi-states project that might emerge.
His eminence also emphasized on Hezbollah refusal of any takfirist approach, disapproving the scene of bombing churches and slaughtering Christians, stressing that the blasts will not stop religious visitors from every country in the world to continue their march.
“Kidnapping visitors also will not prevent the persistence of this Holy Visit," he further added.
“To the criminals and perpetrators of massacres against the religious visitors I say: this approach is not only wrong and useless, but it also leads to more conviction in the importance of the Holy Visit,” Secretary General of Hezbollah Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah stated.
