Lebanese President Michel Sleiman officially postponed a national dialogue session on Saturday, without setting a new date for another round of talks.
Sleiman informed all political factions who participate in the talks that the session, which was scheduled for Monday, was delayed without setting a new date, a statement issued form the presidential palace said.
The postponement was announced late Friday following a meeting between the president, Prime Minister Najib Miqati and Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid Jumblat.
The statement said that Sleiman discussed with Miqati and Jumblat the latest developments including “the dialogue, the electoral law,” and other issues.
The two leaders later stayed for dinner at the presidential palace, the statement added.
Earlier, As Safir and An Nahar newspaper expected that Suleiman would announce the postponement of the session, saying that he will most probably not set a date for a new round especially after March 1 coalition insisted to boycott the dialogue table.
