Addressing thousands of people in Qom, Ayatollah Khamenei said the enemies would try to prevent high public turnout in the elections.

The Leader said certain people considered victory of the Iranian nation over the former monarchical regime and Iran's success in getting rid of the yoke of the US as something unlikely but thanks God Almighty, the royal dynasty was toppled and the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Iranian nation turned into a nation and a system whose name rejoiced other nations of the world.

Ayatollah Khamenei said the victories and success of the nation over the past three decades are instances of God's promise of His Divine assistance.

On the arrogant powers' decision to impose sanctions on Iran in a bid to bring the Iranian nation to its knees, the Supreme Leader said contrary to the past, the arrogant powers have explicitly announced that the aim of sanctions is to make the nation tired and provoke them against the Islamic Republic and build up pressure on Iranian officials. However, the people's attitude and adherence to the fundamentals of Islam and Revolution are growing and the Iranian nation is attaining more dignity to the dismay of the enemies, said the Supreme Leader.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei urged the nation's vigilance vis-a-vis the enemies' plots, saying a look at the behavior and claims of the arrogant powers shows that they have focused on the 11th presidential elections, to be held nationwide in the next five months.

Emphasizing that the elections should be free, the Supreme Leader questioned, "Haven't more than 30 elections held in Iran in the past three decades free? Where on earth have elections been so free as in Iran?"

Ayatollah Khamenei advised officials to ensure the elections would be held freely.
