Iranian Minister of Defense Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi announced on Sunday the opening of mass production line of anti-aircraft system in the Islamic Republic.

Iranian Minister of Defense Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi unveiled on Sunday the opening of mass production line for ‘Ya Zahra’ and Mersad air defense systems in the Islamic Republic.

The minister told reporters that Iran is currently witnessing another aerospace achievement.

Vahidi said the domestic anti-aircraft system is capable of automatically detecting the targets in the air, tracking them and shooting them down.

“The short-range system can effectively accomplish its mission,” said the minister.

On Mersad medium-range system, Vahidi said it is a modern ground-to-air missile system that can act against Cruise missiles and unmanned planes.

Mersad missile system successfully accomplished its mission during the recent military drills conducted in eastern Iran, Vahidi added.
