Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati signed on Monday the decree calling on electoral bodies to hold the elections on June 9, and he referred it to the Baabda Palace awaiting President Michel Sleiman's signature.

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel had announced earlier in the day that the decree will be signed before March 11, stressing that political consensus over the parliamentary elections will reflect stability in the country, hailing the municipal by-elections that were held in several towns.

The Lebanese political parties are yet to agree on a draft law after the adoption of the so-called Orthodox Gathering proposal by the joint parliamentary committees.
