Iran condemned on Wednesday as inhuman the usage of chemical weapons by foreign-backed militants in Syria’s northwestern city of Aleppo.
Tehran strongly condemns the inhuman action of using chemical weapons in the city of Aleppo by the armed opposition groups,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said.
Mehmanparast also slammed the countries which have been supporting and funding the armed groups in Syria, saying that these states would be responsible for any repeat of “such atrocities.”
At least At least 25 people were killed and 86 others injured after militants fired missiles containing poisonous gases into Aleppo’s Khan al-Assal village. Women and children were reported to be among the victims.
The attack came after Syria’s foreign-backed opposition coalition, known as the Syrian National Coalition, chose a Syrian-born American citizen, Ghassan Hitto, as the prime minister of what it called an interim government.
