At least six people were killed including a candidate in the upcoming Iraqi provincial elections in a string of terrorist attacks in the country.

Police officials said unidentified gunmen attacked two military posts in the northern city of Mosul, situated 360 kilometers (225 miles) northwest of the capital Baghdad, on Sunday, killing a total of five soldiers and wounding three others.

In Baghdad, assailants shot dead Salah Khabat, a candidate in provincial council elections, in a drive-by shooting.
