Families of the kidnapped Lebanese pilgrims in Syria demonstrated Tuesday near the Arab League Headquarters in Beirut, in concurrence with the AL summit meeting which was held in Doha.
The kidnapped pilgrims’ families demanded the Arab league to make efforts to free their kin held in north Syria.
They further handed a letter to the AL representative in Lebanon, demanding the organization’s interference to release the Lebanese kidnapped in Syria since May, 2012.
In parallel, as the demonstrators called upon Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, who attended the summit, to find a solution to this crisis, Adham Zgheib read a statement in the families' name, in which he accused the meeting states and Turkey of being responsible for the kidnapping.
“We have had enough, therefore, we will abandon every promise of pacification we have given to the Lebanese government by the first of April, 2013,” he stated.
For his part, the Lebanese president met with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu on the sidelines of the summit, and requested “Turkey to exert all efforts to release the nine Lebanese kidnapped in Syria,” NNA reported.
