Nowadays, with the increasing intensity of unrest on the ground, and under the rising domestic tensions, one of which main reasons is the Syrian crisis whose shrapnel had reached the fragile Lebanese body, the destabilized security is chasing everybody.
Perhaps the most dangerous factor in this vehement atmosphere is that it provides the convenient environment to the growth of the sedition “grasshoppers” that when allowed to invade the country, will swallow every single thing in it… as well as the remnants of coexistence and civil peace.
Lebanese Minister of Interior, Marwan Charbel, might be the most furious person from this situation. This is because he is in direct touch with the on ground challenges, and regarding his position, he views a lot of security reports that are full of negative and field data reflecting the heat of the “hot tin” on which we are living.
Charbel told Al-Manar website that Lebanon had overcome a difficult test few days ago after the incident of attacking some Sheikhs. He also noted that the incident was the most dangerous one he had ever faced since he started working in the internal security field.
Sharbel hopes that the Lebanese people would have learned some morals from this lesson, to strengthen their immunity in the face of the dangers of sedition especially that the country’s “fifth column” is acting in every single available area and seeking to ignite domestic fighting. Were we able to abort its plan, still we are ignorant to the surprises it would show the next time, and the traps it is preparing.
Sharbel calls all the parties for learning from the Lebanese war experience of which we are still paying bills till the moment. As for those who try to ignore or skip this experience, he advises them to learn from the nearby Syrian war.
Perhaps its tragedies and monstrosity would be sufficient for them to avoid its reoccurring and carrying its horrors to Lebanon, the country that no more tolerates a new absurd adventure.
From this point, Sharbel emphasizes in his talks to Al-Manar website that we have to disengage with the Syrian crisis. He also reminds that once fire starts in Lebanon, none will help us to extinguish it because nobody cares for us in the meantime.
Sharbel considers that some sides find it easy to speculate and call for beating with an iron fist under the slogan of saving the state’s prestige. However, the truth is much more complicated than theories. He describes himself as being in direct contact with this reality. And starting from his responsibilities, Sharbel well knows that issues cannot be solved by talkativeness. “I say for those who are excited, he who is hit cannot be compared with he who is just counting the hits,” Sharbel added.
He doesn’t conceal his fear from the rise of the security tensions under the severe political conflicts and the transgressor sectarian speech. Sharbel also reminds us that the separate incidents are able to develop unless efforts are gathered from every side to deal with them in which we reorganize our disputes afar from sedition no matter what its way is.
