Five people were killed, including four Christians, and at least six others were wounded Friday night in sectarian clashes in Al-Khusus, north east of the Egyptian capital, Cairo.
AFP quoted a security source as saying that “security forces have completely taken control of the city,” clarifying that the clashes emerged when a Muslim man, in his 50s, objected to Christian children drawing a Swastika (symbol of the Nazi movement) on a religious institute’s wall in the region.”
The man started cursing Christians and the cross, so a clash with a Christian man broke out, and immediately intensified to include gunfire and automatic weapons between Muslims and Christians.
Moreover, a number of angry Muslims tried to break into a church in the area, but security forces prevented them, while both clashing sides burned tires in narrow, residential streets in the region.
