Premier-designate Tammam Salam proceeded on Wednesday consultations aimed at forming a new government.
In his second and last day of consultations, Salam met with MPs of Free Decision bloc, Baath party bloc, Armenian Consensus bloc and Syrian Social National Party.
Salam met MP Assem Qanso of the Baath party, who said following the meeting that that “there should be consensus on the formation of a large scale political cabinet.”
“The government should carry out its big missions along with supervising the elections, which could be postponed,” he told reporters in parliament.
The Beirut MP also met with Ashrafiyeh's Free Decision bloc of MPs Michel Pharaon, Nadim Gemayel and Serge Torsarkissian, who announced support for the representation of Ashrafiyeh in the cabinet.
“We want all sects to be represented in the government,” said Pharaon after the talks in parliament.
For his part, MP Assaad Hardan from the Syrian Social National Party, told reporters that the PM-designate is willing to form a cabinet whose objective is the nation's highest interest which would be achieved through a national unity cabinet.
On the other hand, Salam also met with MP Siboh kalbakian of the Armenian Consensus bloc.
Kalbakian said that his bloc was ready to facilitate the formation of the cabinet. He urged the formation of Technocrat government and the ratification of a new electoral law that ensure just representation.
