Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has issued a decree assigning former agriculture minister to form a new government
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has issued a decree assigning former agriculture minister to form a new government following the cabinet's resignation last week.
Adel Safar has been ordered on Sunday to announce his cabinet line-up within two days, Syrian Arab News Agency reported.
The appointment comes less than a week after the cabinet under Prime Minister Naji al-Otri resigned.
Al-Assad has received messages from Iraq and Turkey that support him against conspiracies targeting the country's stability.
Abdul Rahim al-Zuhairi, an advisor to Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, and member of the Iraqi parliament, met Assad on Sunday and stressed that the Iraqi government stands by Syria.
Meanwhile, Turkey has said that it will not accept any attempt at destabilizing Syria and underlined that it cares for security, stability and prosperity of the Syrian people as much as it does for its own people.
Spokesman of the Turkish Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Saturday reiterated Ankara's strong support to what President Assad has offered in terms of political, social and economic reforms, expressing full confidence that the Syrian leadership has a pioneering role in this regard.
On Wednesday, Assad warned that Syria is the target of a big plot from outside, saying that enemies have taken advantage of the people's legitimate demands to create division and undermine the country's stability.
