Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad urged Iranians for a millions-strong turnout in the country’s upcoming presidential election slated for June, saying this will break the enemies’ back.

AhmadinejadAddressing a large crowd of people in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, Ahmadinejad said “an election with 50-million-strong turnout in the country’s upcoming presidential election should be held so that the back of the enemies be broken.”

He noted that such turnout will undoubtedly change the domestic and international conditions in favor of the Iranian nation, the Iranian president’s official website reported on Sunday.

In September, the Iranian interior ministry announced that the country will hold the 11th presidential election on June 14, 2013.

The president of Iran is elected for a four-year term in a national election and the Guardian Council vets the candidates for qualifications.

Ahmadienjad said the enemy has imposed sanctions on the country with the hope to bring the nation to its knees, noting that “Last year, all the devils had gathered to defeat the nation of Iran….” But they should know that if they mobilize all the devils, they will not be able to take away nuclear knowledge from Iran, Ahmadinejad said.
