Two Palestinian civilians including a pregnant woman were wounded Wednesday when Israeli warplanes carried out air strikes on northern Gaza Strip, medics and witnesses said.

Medics said that the two civilians suffered shrapnel wounds from missiles fired by Israeli F-16s.

An Israel occupation Forces spokesman claimed that the strike came after Palestinian militants fired three homemade projectiles toward the southern occupied territories.

"The IDF will not allow the Israeli southern communities to continue living under constant threat, and will continue to respond with determination to any attempt to use terror against the citizens of Israel," a statement said.

Palestinian witnesses said that one of the air strikes targeted a plastic factory in eastern Gaza City, wounding the civilians in a neighboring house.
