Syrian Army Regains Strategic Towns in Al-Qusayr

The Syrian Army has taken control of three strategic towns in al-Qusayr area in Homs province on Monday.

The Syrian armed forces have restored security Western Damineh, Ish al-Warwar and al-Haidaryeh towns in al-Qusayr after clashes with foreign-backed militants.

Official news agency, SANA, reported that the army units destroyed many hideouts of armed groups in these areas, adding that tens of explosive devices of different weights were dismantled.

The agency also said that army “inflicted heavy losses upon terrorists near the towns of villages of Oum al-Sakhr, al-Andalos, Kisin, al-Hamidiye, al-Haidariye, al-Buwayda al-Sharqiye, al-Daba'a, and al-Ghanto in Homs countryside.”

Meanwhile, Agence France Presse, AFP, quoted a military officer as confirming the event, saying that the Syrian armed forces captured three villages in the strategic area of Homs province on Monday.

"The attack on the villages of Western Damineh, Haidariyeh and Esh al-Warwar began this morning," the lieutenant colonel told AFP on condition of anonymity.

"The fighting lasted for three hours until we established control over these villages, which are considered strategic because they lie on the road between the cities of Homs and Qusayr and will allow us to block supplies to the militants in Qusayr," he said.
