US State Department announced on Friday that Secretary of State John Kerry is scheduled to visit the Middle East and Africa later this month.
In a statement, the department said that Kerry will visit on May 21 Muscat, the capital of Oman, and meet with senior Omani officials on a range of bilateral and regional issues.
On May 22, the top U.S. diplomat will visit Jordan’s Amman to meet with key international partners on how to bring together Syrian government and opposition and broker a " negotiated political solution" to the prolonged crisis in the Arab country.
From May 23 to 24, he will travel to al-Quds (Jerusalem) and Ramallah for meetings with Israeli and Palestinian officials respectively, according to the schedule. The meetings are apparently aimed at reviving the long-stalled “peace” negotiations between the two sides.
From May 24 to 25, Kerry will be in Ethiopia's Addis Ababa to participate in the Golden Jubilee of the Organization of African Unity at the African Union Summit, said the statement.
He will then return to Amman to participate in the World Economic Forum on May 26, before returning to Washington on May 27.
