Interior Minister General Mohammad Ibrahim announced that two crisis cells were formed to follow up the situation in Sinai-the first is political in Cairo, and the second is military in Sinai. He added that “the Egyptian government has to cope with the terrorist actions in Sinai, especially that responding to the demands of the kidnappers is impossible.”

“The Kidnappers demand to release a number of prisoners who are charged for several crimes they have committed, not for political reasons,” he clarified.


“The Ministry has sent 100 fighting groups and 30 armored vehicles to Sinai to fight the terrorist groups whose total number of militants is more than 2000,” General Ibrahim mentioned.


Different sources reported that the Egyptian President Mohmamad Mursi hasn’t sent any of his counselors to start a negotiation process with the militants to release the kidnappers.

The sources added that the military situation in Sinai is very critical and that the militants are being supplied with heavy weapons that were used in the Libyan revolution.
