Anonymous militants killed seven women and five men in Zayouna district, eastern Baghdad on Wednesday, officials said.

“A number of gunmen rushed into the foundation and opened fire, killing 12 persons,” a security official mentioned.

Zayouna is a mixed district where different Iraqi sects live peacefully.

As the political changes have been taking place in the Middle East since two years, the rate of violence has increased in Iraq.

As a result, around 400 people were killed in May across different Iraqi cities.
