Cautious calm dominated Tripoli on Friday at different points of clashes between Jabal Mohsen and Bab Al-Tabbaneh. However, the area is still witnessing sniper operations at the international road and houses, and a stun grenade was fired at a center in “Azmi” street, causing only material damage.
Traffic in the city is low, as most of the stores, schools, and universities did not open because of the deteriorated security situation.
Severe clashes took place Thursday night, in which light and medium weapons and RPGs were used leaving a number of casualties.
Death toll reached 22 from both sides, midea sources reported.
Militants also deployed around Abi Samra in Tripoli, and formed a checkpoint there, until army units arrived to the area and forced them to pull out.
In parallel, Al-Manar correspondent reported that the Army had deployed since early morning around Jabal Mohsen, specifically in “Syria” Street.
