Iran rejects allegations about Iran’s military support for Syria, and stressed that Damascus does not need such assistance.
The Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian categorically rejected on Thursday the allegations about Iran's military support for Syria, and stressed that Damascus does not need such assistance.
"We firmly support Syria in its fight against the vicious phenomenon of terrorism and international organized crimes against this country."
Speaking on Thursday, congratulated the Syrian nation on army's victories against terrorist groups in the country.
The Iranian official added that Iran will intensify its diplomatic efforts to stop the violence in Syria and promote national dialogue between representatives of the Syrian government and the main opposition groups which believe in a political solution to Syria crisis.
Tehran will be hosting the meeting of the Friends of Syria in late May in a bid to find a peaceful solution to the ongoing crisis in the Muslim country.
Representatives of a number of foreign countries and international organizations will take part in the upcoming friends of Syria meeting in the Iranian capital.
Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mohammad Khazayee said that the 'Friends of Syria' conference which will be held in Iran's capital city and will try to find a peaceful and practical solution to the Syrian crisis.
