Terrorist attacks in Iraq killed 30 people on Thursiraq explosionsday, raising the death toll in May above 600 and sparking fears of grave security deterioration.

Five car bombs and two other explosions in Baghdad killed 21 people and wounded at least 71. Two border policemen were ambushed and killed along the main Iraq-Jordan highway, while three policemen were killed in a suicide car bombing in the northern city of Mousel, and four more people died in another such attack west of the city.

The Iraqi government had already decided a number of measures to stop this wave of wide security violations, including pursuing the terrorist groups, calling for political parties to meet, and warning the media against inciting the clashes in Iraq.

Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said “that the political solution for the Iraqi troubles, if reached, would stop these waves of violence.”
In parallel, the Baghdad Operations Command announced on Thursday the decision that “bans the motorcycles and vehicles of different kinds, starting from tomorrow till further notice.” This measure matches with the preparations for the ceremony of visiting Imam Musa al-Kazim (AS), the son of Imam Jaafar Sadiq (AS) and the seventh infallible Imam, which culminate next week.
