After 9 years of his death, Sayyed Hussein al-Houthi, Yemen's Houthi leader, was buried on Wednesday in a solemn Funeral in Saada Province.
The funeral procession was overcrowded. Hundreds of thousands flocked from the different Yemeni cities and participated in the majestic event.
Abdolmalek al-Houthi, the leader’s brother, led the procession and held the funeral prayer.
Yemeni sources mentioned that the funeral procession is the largest in the modern Yemeni history. The participants chanted slogans against U.S. and the Zionists entity and called for regaining the Yemeni rights and protecting Yemen’s dignity.
The Houthi group received the corpse of their leader from the Yemeni presidency few months ago after testing its conformity with the genes of one of his sons.
The group also said, in a statement, that the DNA experiments were done in Germany and Lebanon and proved the identity of the corpse.
Sayyed Hussein al-Houthi was killed in 2004 in context of battles between the Houthi group and the Yemeni army. The Yemeni authorities then refused to submit the corpse.
