The Army Leadership warned the Lebanese of a coming sedition, indicating that “the Army had sought in the last couple of months to work strongly, strictly, and deliberately to prevent Lebanon from turning into a battlefield for regional conflicts, and from transmitting the Syrian incidents into it. But in the last couple of days, some parts have insisted on tensing the security situation and creating tension among people based on political divisions regarding the Syrian military developments.”
In a statement it issued, the Army leadership said it had “took strict security measures in Tripoli, Sidon, Beirut, Biqaa, and Mount Lebanon, and its operations will be deterrent and strict.”
“The Army is determined to implement its security plan in Tripoli at any price, not only in Bab Al-Tabbaneh and Jabal Mohsen, but in every spot set to be used for fighting between citizens of the same city,” the statement added, pointing out that the Army “had intervened strongly in Sidon to prevent the investment of the Syrian developments, and in other neighborhoods in Mount Lebanon, where militants opened fired for celebration. In addition, it is still tracing the committers of the crime which left two soldiers dead in Ersal.”
Moreover, as the Army leadership assured it will be very strict in its security measures, it called upon citizens to be aware of fabrications aimed at moving Lebanon backwards and dragging it into an absurd war, as well as false rumors and deceptions of some political and religious sides.
It further called on them “to express their political opinions, whether on the Lebanese or the Syrian developments, using peaceful and democratic means which would not provoke anyone, to avoid being driven behind figures that want to achieve their goals violently, and to act in accordance with the Army measures for their sake and for Lebanon’s sake.”
“Arms will be confronted with Arms, and we will spare no effort to save innocent citizens from having to pay the price of political and sectarian goals that want to destroy Lebanon,” the statement concluded.
