Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki arrived in Arbil on Sunday to hold a meeting for the Iraqi central government and hold talks with Kurdistan’s leaders.
“I am very pleased that this meeting is being held in Arbil,” Al-Maliki said in remarks before meeting with Kurdish regional premier Nechirvan Barzani.
“This is one step along the path towards resolving all outstanding issues. Their importance is sometimes exaggerated, and sometimes these issues get out of hand," he added in the televised remarks.
“There is a strong desire to find solutions to all these problems,” he added.
The Iraqi PM was received by Kurdistan President Massoud Barzani and PM Barzani.
After the cabinet meeting, joint committees between Baghdad and Arbil will meet to discuss issues of conflict between the two parts, including oil, budget, and security.
