The Jordanian Command of the Armed forces announced launching the military maneuvers “Eager Lion” on Sunday and denied any relation for this event with the regional political and military developments, especially in Syria.

The two representatives of the Jordanian Special Operations Command and the U.S. Central Command revealed, in a joint press conference on Sunday, the use of sufficient fighter jets, Patriot rockets and what has been brought from the Gulf States.
General Aouni Aoudwan, the Chairman of the Jordanian Special Operations, revealed that 8000 soldiers, coming from 19 Arab and foreign countries, participate in the maneuvers.
The maneuvers include land, naval, and air exercises to train on curbing the effects of the chemical weapons, to combat terrorism, and to use non-traditional fighting methods.
“The exercises will take place in the central and southern regions of the kingdom, and there will be no exercises near the Syrian-Jordanian border.” Aoudwan also said.
“The FSA does not participate in the maneuvers,” he added, “We deal with official authorities, not with military groups.
Concerning the Patriot rockets, Aoudwan said that “they will be used only during the maneuvers, and the Jordanian government will decide if she wants to keep them in Jordan after the maneuvers.”
In turn, General Katali Nouti, the trainig director of the U.S. leadership, considered that the maneuvers help to maintain the military cooperation among the 19 participating countries.
He also revealed that 4500 American soldiers participate in the maneuvers that will keep till June 21.
