Two suicide bomb attacks have hit a square in the Syrian capital, Damascus, killing at least 14 people.
“The number of casualties after a twin suicide attack in Marjeh square has risen to 14 dead and 31 injured,” Syrian State television said.
"Two suicide bombers attacked Marjeh square near a police station," Al-Ikhbariya said. The channel screened images showing badly damaged vehicles and bloodied pavements.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights also reported the blasts, but said they were caused by explosive devices planted in the neighborhood and put the toll higher at 15. "The number of people killed after two explosions in Marjeh square in Damascus has risen to 15," said the Britain-based Observatory.
