The Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Ali Larijani stressed that the Syrian crisis has to be settled through talks, yet he warned that Iran would not attend Geneva II if the Zionist entity took part in the international conference.
“If Israel attends Geneva II, Iran will never share in the conference,” Larijani told al-Mayadeen TV on Saturday.
The Iranian official added that the Syrian problem must be resolved politically through the ballot boxes because violence in Syria serves only the Zionist regime, U.S. and the western countries.
Larijani hinted to the regional regimes who are contributing to the Syrian crisis saying: “The Syrian government is more legitimate than many other regimes in the region.”
Iran is considered to be one of the most influential countries in the Middle East and its attendance is viewed as inevitable.
Syrian officials have underlined the necessity of Iran’s attendance in Geneva II.
The Russian FM has further asserted the importance of Iran’s participation in the International conference as a key player in the region, despite the American and the western reservations.
In turn, Iran has repeatedly expressed its readiness to attend Geneva II.
“If Iran is invited, we will consider our attendance positively,” Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman said earlier.
