The Mayor of London Boris Johnson warned the British PM David Cameron from arming the foriegn-backed militants fighting the Syrian government, describing them as maniacs.

“Arming the Syrian rebels would be disastrous,” he said.

Johnson considered that Syria should not be an arena for ‘muscle-flexing’ because if Britain sent weapons to the Syrian ‘militants’, it would end up in the hands of al-Qaeda.

John’s remarks came after several leading figures cautioned the British PM against sending weapons to the militant groups in Syria.

Earlier on Sunday, the Russian President Vladimir Putin criticized Cameron for considering arming the ‘organ-eaters’, referring to the Syrian militants.

For his part, Deputy British PM Nick Clegg said that "if arming the militants in Syria were a good idea, we would have already done it."

The former head of the Britis army, Lord Dannatt, also expressed his fears of involving Britain in further intervention in the Syrian crisis in case of supplying military helps for the Syrian opposition.
