Fierce clashes occurred between the Syrian National Army and militant insurgents in different areas north of the Arab State in a hit-and-run battle, Al-Manar correspondent reported Friday.
In the Sakhour neighborhood of Aleppo, the Syrian army confronted a group of militants who were firing mortars into residential neighborhoods inflicting them heavy losses and direct hits
The Syrian army also responded to militants attempts to sneak into the neighborhoods. Many of them were killed in the engagement. The army laid siege to a group of militants inside tunnels and sewers where they are holed up.
In the meantime, Al-Mayadeen TV reported that Syrian Army managed to break the siege on Ming Airport north of Aleppo after fierce engagement with militants.
Opposition armed groups occupied the Ming Airport more than a year ago.
On the other hand, Syrian and other Kurdish sources said that al-Nusra Front gunmen cut off the roads leading to a Kurdish region in northern Syria and clashed with the PKK (Kurdistan Workers' Party) fighters.
The sources said the fighting erupted on the outskirts of Afrin, on the border with Turkey, killing at least four people, bringing the death toll from the clashes and assassinations over the past few days to at least thirty people.
“Dozens of others were kidnapped from both sides,” the sources added.
Syria was hit by a violent unrest since mid-March 2011, where the Syrian government accuses foreign actors of orchestrating the conflict, by supporting the militant opposition groups with arms and money.
