- Western observers praised the Lebanese army for its simultaneous and swift resolve and response vis a vis the Assir’s crimes in Sidon. They added that the problem has always been with the political cover needed and not the military preparedness which has always been there.
- Some reports said that the swift success of the Lebanese army in defeating Assir’s group would close the door for some adventurer’s and gamblers who thought they could take Lebanon as a hostage for their political blackmail.
