The governor of Salahuddine province in Iraq, Ahmad Abdallah al-Jubouri, survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday as a roadside bomb was detonated, targeting his convoy north of Tikrit.

The governor of Salahuddine province in Iraq, Ahmad Abdallah al-Jubouri, survived an assassination attempt on Wednesday as a roadside bomb was detonated, targeting his convoy north of Tikrit.

“A roadside bomb exploded as Jubouri’s convoy was passing, injuring two of his bodyguards and causing serious material damage to one of the motorcade vehicles’ wheels, yet the governor was not harmed at all,” Iraqi security source said.

The police closed the scene of the explosion and moved the wounded to a nearby hospital.
