Russian political analyst Vichislaf Matuzuf and the Iranian writer Mohammad Shamas expected a change in Qatar’s foreign policy, especially on Syria, after Emir Tamim bin Hamad took power.
Matuzuf told “Russia Today” that the change in the Qatari leadership will be reflected positively on the developments in the Middle East, especially on the Syrian crisis.
“Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani drove the foreign policy of Qatar to be confrontational what caused many problems,” he added.
For his part, political analyst Mohammad Shamas showed optimistism over the expected change in the Qatari foreign policy as Hamad bin Khalifa handed over power to new Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad.
“Qatar will pay a heavy price for its faulty foreign police during the rule of Hamad,” he concluded.
