Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Lebanon said Tuesday after talks with Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun that the kingdom is keen on Lebanon, its sovereignty and civil peace, calling for officials and all wise men to make strenuous efforts to unite their ranks and to put differences aside.
“Our ties with Gen. Aoun were never severed and we agreed with him on national aims that serve Lebanon’s interests,” Ali Awad Asiri told reporters, following a visit to Aoun at his residence in Rabieh.
“And the general is welcome to visit Saudi Arabia whenever he wants,” he added.
Asiri urged Lebanese factions “to unite their ranks and engage in a deep, frank dialogue to resolve differences between them” and “to put differences aside in order to enhance the role of the state.”
